About us...
Intro
We are a small collective of non-competitive adventure cycling gentle folk. We are made up of out door educators, passionate outdoor folk, who believe that the outdoors can be a force for good. Chances are we will never have a King/Queen of the mountain on Strava, we take inspiration from the different elements of cycling, that we as a group take part in, on any outing we can have a mixed bag of different types of bike and we cycle with the mantra of ‘ride what you brung’. We are putting this blog together in the hope that people who visit here, either local or from further afield, can find some inspiration from our rides and follow our lines of green and grey.

Hardship
There is an adage that ‘one person’s mountain is another person’s hill’. This is never truer than cycling in this beautiful place we call home. If this is your first time riding the gravel trails that span out from our villages, through our local woodlands, it can be a disheartening experience. If it all feels too much, the tunnel vision is starting and it feels like you are about to keel over, get off and push, we do, there is no shame. The angle normally eases around the next bend and you can get back on and the adventure can continue. Once you have climbed above the valley floors then the trails generally undulate and you can get a bit of distance in before the next big descent and you start climbing again. Remember it is ok to be humbled.
Safety
Part of the alure of riding is being able to travel through our environment with a minimal impact under our own power. This self sufficiency also creeps into what we pack with us. Each of us has a different attitude to risk and we all take slightly different ride basics with us. In North Wales the weather can take a turn for the worse and back again in short order. Depending on the time of year, some of us will carry a full water proof and others just a wind vest, most of us carry at least a basic first aid kit and a large wound dressing (Israeli) each. If things go wrong you might ‘only’ be on a forestry road, but because of locked gates, difficulty in navigation and general logistics it might take a couple of hours+ for help to be with you so pack accordingly. We also carry some form of survival bag or group shelter (see article on safety kit we carry). Oh, and Jelly babies, lots of Jelly Babies!
Leave no trace
Ask us a question. We'll endeavour to find an answer, but depending on our whereabouts it might not be an immediate reply.
